How It Works

1

Free design consult

We measure, check the framing for a real attachment point, and walk the sun path with you — specifically where the sun lands at four in the afternoon. No charge, no pressure.

2

Engineering and permit

We size posts, beams and piers for span, seismic load and Santa Ana uplift, pull the Ontario permit, and prepare the HOA or design review package where one applies.

3

Build

Piers first, then posts, beams and roof panel. Most residential covers go up in two to four days once the concrete has cured.

4

Walkthrough and warranty

We walk the finished structure with you, hand over the manufacturer finish warranty and back the workmanship in writing.

Our Patio Cover Services in Ontario, CA

Screened Porches & Screen Rooms in Ontario, CA

Screened Porches & Screen Rooms

A screen room in Ontario earns its keep on the days you cannot open a window. Basin air carries a constant particulate load, and mesh is the only thing that keeps it off cushions, tables and bare feet.

Patio Enclosures in Ontario, CA

Patio Enclosures

An enclosure closes the patio in when the wind is up. That is the real case for one in Ontario.

Sunrooms & Glazed Enclosures in Ontario, CA

Sunrooms & Glazed Enclosures

A glazed sunroom is a large plane of glass held up by aluminum. In Ontario the two questions that decide whether it works are how it handles a gust off the pass and how often somebody has to wash it.

Retractable & Motorized Screens in Ontario, CA

Retractable & Motorized Screens

The honest starting point on motorised screens in Ontario is that the mechanism is exposed to the dirtiest air of any product we install. That single fact decides whether you are still happy with the system in year five.

Rescreening & Screen Repair in Ontario, CA

Rescreening & Screen Repair

Screens here wear out by abrasion. Wind-borne grit works at the mesh every time it blows, and over a few years it thins the strands until a fingertip goes through.

Pool Cages & Poolside Shade in Ontario, CA

Pool Cages & Poolside Shade

Full pool cages are a Gulf Coast product and they are usually the wrong purchase in Ontario. We build them when clients want them, but we would rather first explain what the local problem around a pool actually is.

Screen Doors & Hardware in Ontario, CA

Screen Doors & Hardware

Screen doors in Ontario fail from wind and from grit, in that order. The frame is rarely the problem.

Insulated Patio Covers in Ontario, CA

Insulated Patio Covers

A solid insulated roof is the best-performing patio cover we build, and it is also the one that has to be anchored properly. A continuous panel behaves like a wing.

Aluminum Patio Covers in Ontario, CA

Aluminum Patio Covers

Extruded aluminum is the default patio cover in Ontario for sound reasons. It does not rot, it does not feed termites, and it takes a powder coat that survives our ultraviolet.

Alumawood & Composite Covers in Ontario, CA

Alumawood & Composite Covers

Wood-grain composite covers give you the look of a timber structure in a material that will not check, split or feed insects. The trade in Ontario is that the embossed surface holds dust in a way that smooth aluminum simply does not.

Lattice Patio Covers in Ontario, CA

Lattice Patio Covers

Lattice is the one patio cover that does not fight the wind. Air passes through it, so the uplift that governs solid roofs largely disappears.

Wood Patio Covers in Ontario, CA

Wood Patio Covers

Timber still makes the best-looking patio structure, and in Ontario it asks more of you than aluminum does. Two local conditions drive that: very dry air for most of the year, and wind that never stops working at the connections.

Pergola Installation in Ontario, CA

Pergola Installation

The common assumption about pergolas is that an open roof cannot catch the wind. It catches plenty.

Freestanding Pergolas in Ontario, CA

Freestanding Pergolas

A detached frame has no house to lean on. Everything resisting wind has to come from four posts and their footings, and that single fact drives most of what a freestanding pergola costs to build correctly in Ontario.

Louvered & Adjustable Pergolas in Ontario, CA

Louvered & Adjustable Pergolas

An adjustable louvred roof is the most flexible structure in the catalogue and, in Ontario, the one with the most exposed moving parts. Both of those are true at once, and you should weigh them against each other before signing.

Carports in Ontario, CA

Carports

Most carports in Ontario are bought for one reason. A car parked in the open collects a week of grit and road dust in a couple of days, and the sun works steadily on everything the dust does not.

Gazebos & Pavilions in Ontario, CA

Gazebos & Pavilions

A gazebo or pavilion is a roof on posts standing in the open with nothing around it. In wind terms that is the least forgiving thing you can build, and it is also exactly why they look so good in a yard.

Outdoor Kitchens & Living Spaces in Ontario, CA

Outdoor Kitchens & Living Spaces

An outdoor kitchen is the part of the yard that suffers most from the air here. Every horizontal surface, every vent and every burner port is collecting fine particulate for as long as it sits uncovered.

Patio Lighting & Ceiling Fans in Ontario, CA

Patio Lighting & Ceiling Fans

Fans and light fittings are the components that fail first outdoors here, and the reason is the same for both. They are motors and sealed housings living in air that carries a constant load of fine, abrasive grit.

What Ontario Customers Say

★★★★★
Insulated cover over the back patio off the family room. The difference in August is not subtle — we actually eat out there now. They talked me out of the lattice I originally asked for and explained exactly why.
Marcus T. · Ontario, CA
★★★★★
They engineered the uplift connections properly and walked me through the drawings. After the last big wind event my neighbour's kit cover was in the pool and ours had not moved.
Elena R. · Rancho Cucamonga, CA
★★★★★
Told me I did not need the marine-grade hardware package another company had quoted, because we are nowhere near the coast, and took it off the price themselves. Clean install, permit handled, no surprises.
Danny K. · Chino, CA
★★★★★
Freestanding structure by the pool with fans and lighting run inside the frame. No visible conduit anywhere, and the posts went on real piers rather than a shallow pad. Two summers in and it is still dead level.
Priya N. · Upland, CA

Ontario Elite Patio Covers builds insulated solid-roof patio covers, aluminum and Alumawood structures, pergolas, louvered roofs, carports, screen rooms and patio enclosures across Ontario, CA and the Inland Empire. Everything is engineered rather than assembled from a kit: piers sized for the actual soil, a designed uplift connection at every post, and seismic detailing to California Building Code.

We pull the city permit, prepare the HOA or design review package where one applies, and hand over a written workmanship warranty at the walkthrough. We do not subcontract the build.

Radiant heat is what makes this market different. Ontario runs well past 100 degrees through the summer, and shade you can see through is not shade you can sit under — open lattice passes the sun's energy straight to you, the furniture and the slab, which is why insulated foam-core panel is the product we lead with here.

We are equally straight about what you do not need. There is no salt load more than forty miles from the ocean, so marine-grade hardware is money better spent on a thicker panel or a deeper footing.

About Ontario Elite Patio Covers in Ontario, CA

Ontario Elite Patio Covers has spent over 15 years building outdoor structures across the Inland Empire. We started with aluminum covers and carports out of one truck and grew a job at a time, with the same crew showing up each morning. Today we build insulated solid-roof covers, aluminum and Alumawood structures, pergolas, louvered roofs, carports, screen rooms and enclosures for homes, plus shade for warehouses, restaurants and schools.

Building in this valley is its own discipline. Summer afternoons run well past 100 degrees, so radiant heat rather than rain is the comfort problem, and a roof that does not stop it is decoration. Santa Ana wind comes down through the Cajon Pass and loads any large flat plane hard. Parts of the basin sit on expansive clay that moves with moisture. We design around all three rather than importing a coastal detail.

We also tell people when not to hire us. If all you want is filtered light over a garden path, a lattice costs a fraction of an insulated roof and does that job better. If your yard is already shaded by mature trees, you may need much less structure than somebody else quoted. And nobody out here should be paying for marine-grade hardware. We would rather quote the right thing and keep the customer.

Commercial patio cover services in Ontario, CA

Commercial Shade Across the Inland Empire

Commercial work here is shaped by the logistics economy. Warehouse and distribution employers need break areas that staff will actually use in August, which means an insulated roof rather than an open canopy. We also build restaurant and brewery patios, covered walkways, dealership and fleet canopies, and school and church shade structures.

Everything goes on engineered piers with documented connections, seismic detailing and uplift design for the wind that comes out of the pass. We sequence the work so a business keeps operating while it goes up, and where a landlord, insurer or the city wants stamped drawings, we provide them rather than sending you off to find an engineer.

  • Insulated break-area shade for warehouse and distribution sites
  • Restaurant, brewery and tasting-room patios
  • Covered walkways and entry canopies
  • Dealership, fleet and employee parking canopies
  • School, church and community shade structures
  • Stamped engineering, permits and design review

Frequently Asked Questions

Do I need a permit for a patio cover in Ontario?

Almost always. An attached cover changes the load path on your house, so the City of Ontario wants it permitted and inspected, and California adds seismic requirements to the engineering. In the newer south-Ontario neighbourhoods there is usually an HOA design review sitting in front of the city permit. We handle both as part of the job.

What does a patio cover cost in Ontario, CA?

It depends on span, roof type and whether it is attached or freestanding, so we quote after measuring. An open lattice over an existing slab sits at the low end. An insulated solid roof with concealed lighting and a louvered section sits well above it. The consult and the written quote are free either way.

Insulated cover or lattice — which do I actually need?

If you want to use the patio in July, insulated. Lattice lets radiant heat straight through, so a 104-degree afternoon is still a 104-degree afternoon underneath it. Lattice is the right call over a walkway, over a courtyard used mainly in spring and autumn, or where climbing planting is the plan. We will tell you which one your yard is.

Will a patio cover survive Santa Ana winds?

It should, if it was engineered for one. Wind comes down out of the Cajon Pass with real force, and a patio roof is a large flat plane sitting on tall posts. Ours go on engineered piers with a designed uplift connection at every post. The covers that come apart in a wind event are almost always kit structures bolted to fascia.

Do I need marine-grade hardware in the Inland Empire?

No, and you should not pay for it. Marine-grade fasteners and finishes exist for lots within a mile or two of the ocean, where salt attacks anything that was not chosen for it. Ontario is more than forty miles inland with no salt load, so that upgrade solves a problem you do not have. Put the money into a thicker panel or a deeper footing.

How long does it take?

Most residential covers are two to four days of build once the piers have cured. The permit is the longer part of the calendar, and HOA review sits in front of it in the newer communities. We give you a realistic date at quote rather than an optimistic one.
